Chemical peeling is the application of certain chemical solutions to revitalize, rejuvenate, and renew the skin. In this treatment, a chemical substance is applied to the skin that causes the superficial layers to separate and peel off. While there are numerous chemical peeling agents, the most commonly used are glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acid (TCAs), salicylic acid, Jessner solution, and combinations thereof.
• AHA (alpha hydroxy acid): Derived from fruit acid. It is one of the most effective exfoliating products with minimal irritation. Suitable for use in rejuvenation, spot treatment, and acne treatment.
• Beta hydroxy acid (salicylic acid): Used alone or to enhance the effect of other exfoliating products.
• Arbutin and kojic acid: preferred for treating skin blemishes.
• Vitamin C: Used for rejuvenation and treating blemishes.
• TCA (trichloroacetic acid): A powerful exfoliant, effective in high concentrations for treating various skin conditions and reducing acne scars.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CHEMICAL PEELING, AND WHAT CONDITIONS CAN IT TREAT?
Wrinkles caused by environmental factors (sun, sunburn, etc.), sun and age spots, freckles, scaly rashes with cancer potential, or dark spots on the face, as well as hormonal or pregnancy-related spots called melasma, are treated with peeling. It helps in the healing of active acne and the improvement of acne scars. After the peeling process, a smooth and homogeneous layer of skin is revealed.
Chemical peels are primarily used successfully in 4 different areas:
• Acne (pimples) and scars
• Spots: melasma, freckles, solar lentigo
• Certain benign skin diseases: seborrheic keratosis, actinic keratosis,
• Rejuvenation
HOW IS A PEELING TREATMENT APPLIED?
The appropriate substance, chosen by the doctor and based on the patient's condition, is applied to the face, neck, chest, hands, and arms. Mild burning and stinging may occur during the procedure. Normal daily activities can be resumed afterward. Several sessions may be required to achieve the desired results.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A PEELING TREATMENT?
Different reactions occur depending on the depth of the peel. Superficial applications only cause redness lasting 1-2 hours to 1-2 days, while deeper peels can cause swelling and the formation of a brownish layer similar to a sunburn; this layer peels off in 7-10 days.
After a peeling treatment, moisturizing products recommended by a specialist should be used, and sun protection should be observed.
Our clinic effectively treats acne scars, skin aging, various blemishes, and different skin diseases using different chemicals.
